Abstract:
Textbook is a unique knowledge space and a typical media. The narration of newspapers and periodicals in the new-style textbooks at the end of Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China (1902-1922) provides a unique perspective for exploring the formation, transmission, content level, accumulation and evolution of newspaper knowledge in the infant stage of modern Chinese journalism. In the late Qing Dynasty, textbooks connected newspapers and periodicals with old knowledge, and formed narrative discourse of newspapers and periodicals with progressive thinking; textbooks in the early Republic of China highlighted the value of newspapers and periodicals, introduced journalism, and incorporated the newspaper industry into the narrative framework, creating the rudiment of modern newspaper literacy education to a certain extent. In the process of social construction, the knowledge of newspapers and periodicals in textbooks also promotes the socialization of students.
