About Us
The Research Center for Journalism and Social Development was established in October 1986 and was reorganized in November 1999. It was approved as the “Key Research Base for Humanities and Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education” in September 2000. The current director is Professor Cai Wen, the executive director is Professor Wang Runze, and the deputy directors are Professor Xu Xiangdong and Associate Professor Li Biao. There are 11 research institutes, namely Journalism and Communication Research Institute, Public Opinion Research Institute, Media Management Research Institute, Public Communication Research Institute, New Media Research Institute, Journalism Ethics & Laws Research Institute, Modern Advertising Research Institute, Internet Public Opinion Research Institute, Future Communication Research Institute, Media Technology Research Institute, and Media Psychology Research Institute. The main research fields are journalism, communication, radio and television, and media economics. There are 20 full-time researchers, the main academic leaders are Professor Fang Hanqi, Professor Chen Lidan, Professor Cai Wen, Professor Yang Baojun, Professor Hu Baijing, Professor Zhou Yong, Professor Wang Runze, Professor Deng Shaogen, Professor Liu Hailong, and Professor Kuang Wenbo.
