Author: Time:2020-06-01December 2019, Series Compilation of News & Historical Materials during the Republic of China -Fourth edition (30 volumes) were published by the National Library Press, thus far, Compilation of News & Historical Materials during the Republic of China was completed, which took ten years to compile, with a total of six sets, 167 volumes and nearly 100 million words, including Series Compilation of News & Historical Materials during the Republic of China (16 volumes, published in 2011), Series Compilation of News & Historical Materials during the Republic of China- Second Edition (32 volumes, published in 2017), Series Compilation of News & Historical Materials during the Republic of China- Third Edition (26 volumes, published in 2018), Series Compilation of News & Historical Materials during the Republic of China -Fourth edition(39 volumes, published in 2019).And Series Compilation of Rare Historical Materials during the Republic of China collected by School of Journalism and communication, Renmin University of China (29 volumes, published in 2012), Series Compilation of Graduation Dissertation from School of Journalism, Yenching University collected by School of Journalism and communication, Renmin University of China (34 volumes, published in 2014).

The School of Journalism and communication Renmin University of China, as an essential research center in the field of journalism and communication with historical background, has always attached great importance to basic historical research of the discipline. Mr. Fang Hanqi, the editor-in-chief of the six sets of historical materials and an honorary first-class professor at Renmin University of China, pointed out in his preface that the expansion of journalistic history and the In-depth research is the basis for innovation and breakthroughs in the study of journalism history. Over the past 10 years, the participants of these six compilations have been working hard for years, and this is a huge project that will benefit all scholars.

Prof. Wang Runze, Executive Director of Research Center of Journalism and Social Development of Renmin University of China, Vice Dean of School of Journalism and President of The Chinese Association for History of Journalism and Communication, said that the publication of this historical material is of great significance. It provides the most basic materials for issue innovations, theoretical innovations, and discourse innovations in Chinese journalism and communication. The project will provide important clues and content to the depth and field of research in journalism and communication, including the history of journalism. With the promotion by the major project Researching on Historical Materials of Chinese Journalism in the Centennial Period (Project No. 15ZDB140), the contents of News & Historical Materials during the Republic of China have been further enriched. The collection of newspaper and magazine articles has been completed and is in the process of being published.
As the first in the series of compilations, Series Compilation of News & Historical Materials during the Republic of China (16 volumes) was published in 2011. The compilation contains more than 60 kinds of references related to news in the Republican period, including monographs on journalism, popular reading materials on journalism, news yearbooks, special issues, commemorative issues, periodicals and directories etc. It has valuable historical value for understanding and studying the development of news in the Republican period.
Series Compilation of News & Historical Materials during the Republic of China- Second Edition (32 volumes)
Series Compilation of News & Historical Materials during the Republic of China- Second Edition (32 volumes) was published in 2017, which has more than 120 types news & historical materials during the republic of China, divided into six sections, including press statistics, press organization profiles, press yearbooks, commemorative magazines, journalism monographs, wartime news and news periodicals.
Series Compilation of News & Historical Materials during the Republic of China- Third Edition (26 volumes) was published in 2018. The "Three Editions" contains sixty-two types of references with about 8.5 million characters, except for the first issue and anniversary special issue of each journal, there are large proportion of informative and academic literature. Among them, the literature on wartime journalism, press regulations and journalists is concentrated.
Published in 2019, Series Compilation of News & Historical Materials during the Republic of China -Fourth edition(39 volumes) contains more than 70 types news & historical materials during the republic of china, which is divided into four parts, including news statistics, commemorative news journals, news treatises and monographs on journalism.
Published in 2012, Series Compilation of Rare Historical Materials during the Republic of China collected by School of Journalism, Renmin University of China (29 volumes) covers the following topics: History of Journalism, Theory of Journalism, Overview of Journalism, Compilation of Journalistic Materials, Commemorative Album of Important Newspapers and Periodicals, Essays on Journalism, special issues edited and published by the Department of Journalism, Yenching University, 78 in total.
Series Compilation of Graduation Dissertation from School of Journalism, Yenching University collected by School of Journalism, Renmin University of China (34 volumes) was published in 2014, the book has 160 dissertations by graduates of the Department of Journalism, Yenching University, from 1927 to 1951, including 27 in English.
