On December 20, 2020, the first "Research Forum on the history of contemporary Chinese journalism" was held online, sponsored by the Chinese society of journalism history and undertaken by the research group of the major bidding project "70 years of Journalism and communication history of new China" of the school of journalism of Renmin University of China and the National Social Science Foundation of China. At the same time, as the 33rd session of Renmin University of China, the forum invited scholars and experts from the academia and industry of ten journalism institutes to gather together to discuss the research and writing of contemporary Chinese journalism history, collide ideas and guide the direction from the research of Journalism and communication history in the past 70 years since the founding of the Communist Party of China.

As a member of the research group, Professor Deng shaogen expressed his heartfelt thanks to all experts and scholars for their support, and introduced the basic situation and progress of the project. On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the people's Republic of China in 2019, the project has been approved by the National Social Science Fund. At present, it has achieved fruitful results, published more than 10 papers, and successively opened columns in academic journals such as journal of Fujian Normal University. Professor Deng Shaogen further pointed out that in the 100 years of the founding of the party, and in conjunction with the general secretary Xi Jinping's request for learning the four histories (party history, new China history, reform and opening up history, and socialist development history), we hope to build a "research forum for Journalism history in China" based on the 70 year history of Journalism and communication in New China, and take the Forum on journalism history of China to study the history of journalism in New China. In the end, it will enlighten the development of news history in the future.

In his speech, Professor Wang Runze extended his warm welcome and heartfelt congratulations to the first Forum on the study of contemporary Chinese journalism history. She stressed that the study of the history of journalism should be "honest and innovative" and put the paper on the land of China to study the real problems of history. Combining with her research on the history of Journalism Practice for many years, she proposed that the study of journalism history should be "correct", that is, to grasp the noumenon of "journalism", and pointed out that one of the future innovation directions of journalism history is to take Marx's materialist view of history as the guidance, from "text" journalism to "practice" journalism, starting from the materiality, process and initiative of news communication activities, This paper investigates the main practice path, link and process of news communication in building the world, and deeply explains how various practices of news communication shape a certain group's understanding of the world, how to build the news communication industry and the working group itself in the interaction with various social elements, so as to find the unique problems in China's news practice and summarize China's news practice and social development In this way, we can better point out the direction of new media and enrich the Chinese experience of journalism in the world.
