Chinese Universities of Sino-Russian University Alliance of Journalism Education visit Russia
Author: Time:2018-10-18From September 16 to September 22, Moscow time, at the invitation of Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) and Irkutsk State University, delegation of Chinese universities of Sino-Russian University Alliance of Journalism Education set out from Beijing to attend the 2018 exchange visit activities.
The delegation was composed of six presidents and professors of the school of journalism and communication and two PhD students. The members included Zhao Yonghua (convener of Sino-Russian University Alliance of Journalism Education and professor of the school of Journalism and Communication of Renmin University of China), Liu Xiaoyan (director of Chinese Journal of Journalism & Communication, School of Journalism and Communication, Renmin University of China), Zhang Xiaoying (executive director of School of International Journalism and Communication, Beijing Foreign Studies University), Zhou Decang (Dean of Journalism and Communication College, Xizang Minzu University), Zhang Jinsheng (vice president of School of Journalism and Communication of Jinan University), Qi Hui (Professor of School of Journalism and Communication, Chongqing University), Meng Linshan (PhD students of School of Journalism and Communication of Renmin University of China) and Natalia (Russia),.

At 15:00 Moscow time on September 17, the exchange delegation participated in the academic seminar on "Sino Russian journalism education in the new media era" organized by the Journalism Department of MSU.
At the meeting, Professor Yelena Valdanova, director of the Department of Journalism of MSU, and Professor Zhao Yonghua delivered opening speeches respectively. Chinese and Russian scholars had a positive discussion on the theme and presented and exchanged research results in related fields. Both sides believed that this fruitful academic discussion had taken a substantial and key step in strengthening the cooperation in journalism education between China and Russia in the future.

On September 19, Irkutsk local time, the delegation came to the Media School of Chinese and Foreign Language of Irkutsk State University to participate in the sub forum "Interdisciplinary Humanities Research" of "100th Anniversary Ceremony of Irkutsk National University and the International Academic Seminar of Irkutsk State University ".
The theme of the forum was "Communication Platform: Language, Literature, and Media". The participants included scholars from China, South Korea, Germany, Poland, Russia, etc. Scholars from different countries made speeches on the theme of the conference from their research fields, and exchanged in-depth views with participants. As a famous university with a long history in eastern Siberia and the Far East Pacific region, Irkutsk State University had been actively engaged in in-depth cooperation with institutions of higher learning in Europe and the Far East Pacific region. In particular, it was hoped that Irkutsk State University would actively carry out cooperation in journalism education projects with the journalism and communication schools of Chinese universities in order to deepen the communication between the two countries. At about 19:00 that evening, at the invitation of the School, all the participants attended the Centennial Party of Irkutsk State University. On September 20, Irkutsk State University organized a cultural investigation for the participants.

Talks between Chinese delegation and Russian Universities: Strengthening Cooperation between Chinese and Russian Universities in Journalism Education
On September 21, the exchange delegation came to the Media School of Chinese and Foreign Language of Irkutsk State University, and held talks with the relevant principals of the college and Southern Federal University of Russia, and discussed the preliminary implementation of Sino Russian inter school journalism education cooperation project under the cooperation framework of "Sino-Russian University Alliance of Journalism Education".
The relevant representatives of Chinese and Russian universities respectively introduced their respective universities' situation of journalism education, faculty, characteristic research and current international cooperation projects, and expressed their full expectation for the future cooperation of journalism education between the two countries.

On September 22, Professor Zhao Yonghua and his doctoral students Meng Linshan and Natalia (Russia) came to Media School of Chinese and Foreign Language of Irkutsk State University for a discussion with Professor Marina Tashrekova, President of the school. The two sides further exchanged in-depth and specific intentions for cooperation projects between the two colleges and universities within the framework of Sino-Russian University Alliance of Journalism Education.
In terms of teacher exchange and cooperation between the two schools, both sides agreed to strengthen academic exchanges between teachers of both sides by holding academic exchange seminars, and try to encourage teachers from both sides to carry out international academic research cooperation in the future, especially in the field of Journalism and Orientalism.
Professor Zhao Yonghua said that in terms of student exchanges and cooperation between the two universities, he hoped to provide opportunities for students of the two universities and colleges to study abroad, attended exchange activities in summer, participate in media research activities of the two countries, and also hoped to invite scholars from both sides to teach in the university, so as to widen students’ scope of knowledge, cultivate their international vision, and strengthen the exchange between the students of the two colleges, as well as two universities to enhance the friendship between the two sides.
Professor Marina Tashrekova said that the college would develop an all English-teaching program for international journalism communication in the next two years, hoping to attract more Chinese students from Renmin University of China and other universities to study in the college.

On September 22, the exchanging activities in Russian universities of this year came to an end. And the Chinese delegation returned to Beijing from Irkutsk.
The Sino-Russian University Alliance of Journalism Education was established on July 9, 2016. The alliance was commissioned by Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, initiated by Renmin University of China, and actively participated by main Chinese and Russian universities. The establishment of Sino-Russian University Alliance of Journalism Education aims to promote the exchange and cooperation of higher education between China and Russia in journalism, and enhance the cultural exchange between China and Russia in the new era.
