The award had been comprehensively evaluated after many steps such as being recommended by public service organizations and the mainstream media, Internet voting publicity and expert appraisal.

In the past two years, the project of climate change communication jointly carried out by Research Center of Journalism and Social Development (RUC) and Oxfam has positively built an international communication platform, cooperated and assisted the Chinese government, media and NGOs to achieve the multilateral dialogues during the international negotiations on climate change communication, jointly building the ‘soft power’ of China, and maintaining and showing the positive international image of China in the international climate negotiations together.  Positive social influences have achieved in the two international forums on climate change communication held by the project team in 2010 in Cancun, Mexico, and 2011 in Durban South Africa. In China, the project team has focused on helping the media and the public to increase the knowledge of the issue of climate change, especially the relationship between the issues of climate change and poverty, advocating more people to join in the action of helping the poor to adapt to climate change

Since the implementation of the project two years ago, with the innovative ideas, broad international perspective, and a wide range of work practices, the project team has made some achievements in pioneering new public advocacy models and promoting the development of China's public welfare, and was widely recognized by relevant government departments, social organizations, as well as the masses from all levels. Therefore, the project stood out among more than 20 candidate projects and received a commendation.
