Professor Zheng hosted seminar for the China global media image in Belgium

On April 18, the seminar for the announcement of the achievements made in the project of China global media image was held in Brussels, Belgium. The meeting was co-hosted by Professor Zheng Baowei, director of Research Center of Journalism and Social Development (RUC), and Mr. Dennis, team leader of 21st Century Frontiers from Sweden. Present also at the meeting were  officials, correspondents and scholars from China, Sweden, Belgium, Britain ,and related media and research institutes from EU, including Alex Kirby, a retired BBC journalist and chief correspondent-training expert on United Nations Environment, Bernard Dewit, chairman of the Belgium-China Chamber of Commerce, Pape Wolfgang, senior consultant from EU, Cao Qing, a professor from Liverpool John Moores University, and David Fouquet, a researcher from center for Europe and Asia Research in Brussels.

The participants shared the preliminary achievements of the research project and started the discussion on such issues as the communication ideas, methods and effects of the Western media involved in the research project. The participants hoped, in order to reduce misreading and misunderstanding caused by media communication, to further strengthen the interaction and exchange, and to seek for understandings and consensus.
